What is this course all about ? This two and a half day course is your practical guide to developing TALENT!. You will learn how to implement personal and leadership development programs in order to create positive change. It is designed to present new and interesting challenges to those who have little or no experience in training and coaching but who want to develop coaching skills for use in their workplaces and community. It uses techniques from accelerated learning, neuro-linguistics and emotional intelligence. For you or your company, this program increases your confidence in presenting complex information in an understandable and interesting way and increases your ability to motivate others. Additionally it increases your own communication skills, organization skills and assists you to look at new situations with an open and positive mind.
In the first module, The Adult Learning Experience you will explore the process of learning and consider some of the major aspects which affect how adults learn. Learning is a continuous process and it is important to understand that adults approach learning tasks in different ways. In module 2, The Adult Learning Expectations you will examine the driving forces behind adult behaviour with an emphasis on empowering the individuals to choose and develop for themselves what it is they want to learn. Coaches are guides through the human experience, leading participants from where they are to where they want to be. In the third module, The Art of Coaching you will explore the environment in which effective learning takes place and seek to discover the most appropriate methods and techniques of coaching. We seek to be innovators, able to customize an experience based on the expectations of our participants. How you as a coach build learning experiences and programs determines how effective you will be in coaching situations. Module 4, Developing a Learning Experience gives you ideas, techniques and tools to create the most dynamic, effective and innovative vehicle for conveying your learning program. This includes setting learning objectives, selecting and fine-tuning course material and selecting the learning methods. As an innovative coach you need innovative tools. Module 5, The Resources , looks at a wide range of simple and complex resources that an alert coach can spot right away and apply immediately. Learning resources are important to any program and to identify appropriate and effective resources is a required skill for the Institute coaches. But the real test comes in Module 6, Me - The Coach where you will have to open yourself - mind, heart and philosophy - in order to create the most caring and student centred environment. Here all your experiences, acquired skills and techniques from previous modules come together . Finally, students and coaches alike have to stop and to take a look at their progress in Module 7 , Measuring Learning. The challenge with training today is that so little of it is taken back into the workplace. Return on Investment (ROI) is a recurring theme in HR circles. We need to ensure that learning is applied. This module will address some of the issues and outline potential solutions. The principles and skills introduced in this program and the overall learning experience have a great value in real life. The practical experience you will gain through this course represents insightful, life-relevant learning that any individual can take home to his or her family, business or community.

OUR TRAINING PHILOSOPHY Individuals are better trained and developed through training seminars and learning by doing in projects. They will upgrade the leadership of their businesses and community organisations, improve the quality of their projects and have a greater impact overall. We do not want to teach only skills, techniques or theories; our training seeks to change the attitude of the individual participants. We want to give the opportunity to the individual to really understand the process of learning, so they can apply immediately the learned skills in their life through changing their attitude. A coach is a catalyst who melds individual experiences, knowledge and expectations together with his/her knowledge, experience and with the existing or to be created opportunities. |
